MBT Introduction Day

This training will be delivered by MBT-TBM Canada.
Instructor: Dr. Karin Ensink.
The MBT Introduction Day will provide an overview of MBT as a treatment approach, including the theoretical basis, key interventions, and objectives. Participants will also develop a basic understanding of the implementation and integration of MBT in clinical practice (inpatient and outpatient contexts) and the application of MBT to specific clinical cases.
The MBT Introduction Day will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to MBT: theoretical / structure / evidence of MBT
- Adolescent case(s) and discussion
- Adult case(s) and discussion
The MBT Introduction Day is best suited for counselors, therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists who work with adolescents and/or adults.
April 19-20, 2024
The MBT-Adolescent training will provide an overview of mentalization development in adolescence, an introduction to the framework of MBT-A, and several opportunities to develop practical skills needed in order to work with adolescents from a mentalizing perspective.
The MBT-Adolescent Online Training will cover the following topics:
Key concepts in mentalizing and development of mentalizing
May 17, 18, 19 (2024)
This training course will be conducted by MBT-TBM Canada. The course will be presented in French.
The MBT-Child training will provide an overview of mentalization development in middle childhood (ages 5-12), an introduction to a time-limited model of MBT-C, and several opportunities to develop practical skills needed in order to work with children from a mentalizing perspective.
The MBT-Child Online Training will cover the following topics:
The MBT-C course is best suited for counselors, therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists who work with children and families. This course will assume a working knowledge of mentalization as a concept.
Those who have completed the MBT-C training will have the opportunity to join an individual or group supervision, which will support you to implement the MBT-C approach to your own clinical practice. This is an essential element for those who wish to be registered as an MBT-C Practitioner. Complex Trauma and Personality from an MBT Perspective

Many patients with personality disorders present with complex trauma, but complex trauma patients do not anways present with personality disorders. This training will cover the following topics:
- The differentiation and overlap between complex trauma and personality from a mentalizing perspective
- Implications for treatment in a developmental framework, particularly in adolescents and adults
- Developing a nuanced trauma-informed practice
- Identifying when to focus on personality and when to focus on trauma
This training is best suited for counselors, therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists who work with adolescents and/or adults.
